WHAT WE DO
Data Access to mobilize revenue
Access to data has becomen one of the key factors of success in many government’s processes and operations today, including those related to revenue mobilization. Properly used in compliance with security and privacy requirements, data can catalyze massive financial and operational benefits for governments, tax administrations and other authorities involved in domestic revenue mobilization (DRM).
The role of data for SDGs
Data-driven approach to DRM represents a game-changer in the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in low- to middle-income countries. However, lack of data infrastructure impedes their capability to take this decisive step. Africa and Latin America, for example, account for less than 5% of the wolrd’s colocation data centers.*
This is why capacity building related to data has always been at the core of GVG’s offering. We assist governments in making the best of the new data technologies to streamline and boost revenue mobilization processes, among other critical purposes.

GHANA
Case study
How the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) used our data-driven Revenue Assurance Platform to increase revenue collection in the telecom sector.
PROBLEM
Old paper-based reporting methods impeding GRA’s capabilities in terms of revenue tracking and tax computation.
SOLUTION
GVG’s data-driven Revenue Assurance Platform connecting GRA to the telecom operators’ core systems in a seamless and non-intrusive manner.
RESULTS
36%
increase in the revenue in from 2021 to 2022.
18%
increase in taxes paid by the telecom industry in 2021
compared to 2020 (from $329.9 million to $393.7 million respectively).
Since the implementation of the Revenue Assurance Platform in 2018, the GRA has gained grat visibility into the revenue streams generated in the telecom market, helping to improve revenue assurance and policy-making capacity. The platform represents an incentive for transparency and tax compliance in the telecom sector.
