Since COVID-19 hit us hard a year ago, the world has never been the same again. One thing that rapidly changed is society’s approach towards a cashless economy. Are you ready for it?
The Race Towards a Cashless Africa, a webinar, will be co-hosted by CIO East Africa and Global Voice Group (GVG). The event, which will be held virtually on 15 April 2021 at 2 PM EAT (1 PM CET), sets out to explore Africa’s pursuit of a cashless society. A journey that will be observed through the eyes of public and private sector actors across the continent. The webinar will be translated into French to open up more markets not just in East Africa, but in West and Central Africa.
There are several reasons why you must attend this session:
– Africa is at the forefront of the cashless adoption race with innovations such as mobile money originating on the continent. Mobile money has been a huge success not just due to its convenience, but also because of the great strides it has made in growing financial inclusion. Digital transactions have been on the rise since the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has opened up and inspired a growing need for regulators and governments to have the right tools to protect the payments ecosystem.
– This webinar will also allow you to understand the context, origins and future of financial transactions in Africa by exposing you to expert views concerning the challenges, threats and opportunities of a digital financial transformation.
– As we have now come to appreciate, a cashless society is a crucial economic matter that affects not only decision-makers but also you, the end-user. It is therefore important for us to understand the opportunities and the pitfalls of going cashless.
With the rise of fintechs in East and West Africa, this will be an opportunity to analyse the growth of the mobile money ecosystem. Aside from that, the event will examine the disruption brought about by the digital money pioneers who are strongly minimising the role of cash. The webinar will also cover the increasing integration of Trusted Digital Identities in the financial ecosystems and in the different societies across Africa. This platform brings together a group of experts who will also discuss the challenges, opportunities and outlook of digital money in the continent by sharing their different experiences.
