Tech-focused URA hits above Shs 2.1tn target

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has successfully surpassed its tax collection target by over UGX 2.1 trillion. “Since their deployment in Uganda in 2016 and 2018 respectively, the TIMS (Telecommunications Intelligent Monitoring System) and DMS (Data Monitoring System) platforms deployed by Global Voice Group have significantly enhanced oversight capabilities and revenue collection performances not only for the telecom sector but also for emerging industries like digital transactions, betting, and gaming”. The integration of these platforms has allowed URA to utilize real-time data for more accurate tax assessments and better revenue mobilization, contributing to this significant achievement. The URA’s focus on leveraging advanced technology like TIMS and DMS reflects its broader strategy of digitization to boost efficiency and transparency in Uganda’s tax administration.
