Uganda’s Lotteries Board Sets Shs 300bn Revenue Collection Target

This article highlights Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Board’s (NLGB) plan to collect UGX 300 billion in revenue for the fiscal year 2024/25, leveraging technology. The use of Global Voice Group’s (GVG) Telecommunications Intelligent Monitoring System (TIMS) and Data Monitoring System (DMS) has played a significant role in monitoring mobile money gaming transactions, leading to substantial growth in tax collection. Since their introduction in 2016, these systems have increased transparency, enabling the Uganda Revenue Authority to collect approximately $26 million in gaming taxes.
